Grade 1 to 2 Transition Class

Grade 1 to 2 Transition Class is the fourth level of Janice Barringer’s Ballet Technique and is designed for students ages 9–11. This unique level serves as an essential bridge between Grade 1 and Grade 2, giving students the added strength, coordination, and technical clarity needed before moving into the more demanding Grade 2 syllabus.

The exercises in this transition class are thoughtfully developed to reinforce Grade 1 concepts while gently introducing the increased complexity students will encounter in Grade 2. With an emphasis on clean placement, accurate turnout, supported extensions, and developing musical phrasing, this interim level helps dancers solidify foundational habits and build confidence. The class consists of 16 structured exercises spanning barre, center work, and across-the-floor progressions, providing teachers with a smooth and logical progression into the next level.

This three-disc collection offers teachers everything needed to present a cohesive and well-organized transition class—complete with original music, vocal instruction, and teacher reference materials.
